About the Chamber
The Butte-Silver Bow Chamber of Commerce is an integral part of the community, offering business and economic support, travel and visitor information and resources. Our vision represents the commitment we have to the community to be the best organization to meet the growing needs.
- Continue to be an integral part of Team Butte for the promotion of economic development.
- Continue to be an advocate for our diverse member businesses through leadership in the areas of social, civic, health, and business issues.
- Become the voice for the common goals in our business community.
- Become the source of information for our community.
- Calling the Chamber, a business or individual should be referred to the proper resource they are seeking.
- Provide educational forums for the business community.
- Help in the implementation of the Butte Silver-Bow Business Plan.
- Actively involve the Convention & Visitor’s Bureau with The Butte Civic Center and other convention centers and arenas to help promote events to our area.
- Help in the implementation of a community event coordinator, not affiliated with the Chamber, through which all events would be planned and coordinated.
- Address the work/labor force issues in our community and help to develop programs to address needed areas.
- Help to form a cohesive bond between the community as a whole and Montana Tech. Work in close relation with the Chamber’s Retail Committee to increase retail sales in Butte.
- Continue being actively involved with community enhancement through the “Clean-Up, Green-Up” campaign.
- Continue website development and the use of modern technology.
- Enhance the investment in our community by increasing the Chamber’s membership base.
Butte-Silver Bow Chamber of Commerce Executive Director
Stephanie Sorini has been active with the Butte-Silver Bow Chamber, serving six years on the board of directors and prior to being named the executive director, was the director of marketing and membership services. She at one time owned and operated a children’s clothing store in Uptown Butte called Munchkins. She is very active in the Butte community and recently took ownership of the Butte 100 mountain bike race entity, which attracts hundreds of racers to the area each July.
Manager of Community Relations for NorthWestern Energy
Paul Babb is a lifelong resident of Butte Montana, graduating from Butte High School and Montana Tech. Paul has a broad range of work experience, ranging from economic development, sales and marketing, public/community relations, business management, and public administration. Paul is the Manager of Community Relations for NorthWestern Energy, covering southwest Montana. He is involved in several community boards and committees, and enjoys volunteering at various community events.
Paul is married to Amy Babb, and they have four children (three girls and a boy). He enjoys most outdoor activities, and spending time with my family.
Chancellor of Montana Tech
Don received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Wyoming, 1985, 1986, and 1989, respectively. He was at the University of Idaho from 1989-2011 eventually becoming Dean of the College of Engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in Idaho and Montana. Don and his wife Vicki have three children and four grandchildren. Son Riley and Meghan and their daughter Tenley in Vancouver, B.C., daughter Britni and Jonathon and children Stella and Jessie, and son Shadd and Heather with their daughter Madelynn in Surrey, B.C.
Patrick (“Pat”) T. Fleming
Principal/Shareholder/Partner in Fleming & O’Leary, PLLP
Pat is a Butte native and has been admitted to the Montana Bar since October of 1978, meaning he has practiced in excess of 36 years in Montana, with over 34 of those years in Butte.
Pat has a broad range of legal experience, having been employed as a Law Clerk for the Montana Supreme Court (1978-1979); a Staff Attorney for Bureau of Hearings and Appeals for the Social Security Administration (1979 -1980); Chief Deputy County Attorney for BSB (1980-1984); Staff Attorney for Montana Power Company (1984-1990); Assistant General Counsel Montana Power Company (1990-2001); Corporate Secretary and Assistant General Counsel for Montana Power Company (2001-2004); General Counsel/Corporate Secretary for Touch America (2001-2003); Associate with Poore, Roth & Robinson (2003-2004); and now, Principal/Shareholder/Partner in Fleming & O’Leary, PLLP (2004 to present).
Pat has been active in the Butte community since his return to Butte in 1980. He has served the community extensively, including as:
- a member of the BSB Audit Committee;
- Member/Chairman of the Butte Civic Center Board (1984-2004);
- Member/Vice Chairman of the Butte Silver Bow Law Enforcement Commission;
- Member/Director Butte Country Club;
- a member of the Community, Counseling and Correctional Services (CCCS) Board of Directors (2004-present);
- and a member of the Columbus Plaza/Highland View Manor Board of Directors.
Pat and his wife Mary (formerly Mary O’Leary), also a life-long resident of Butte, have two (2) grown children: Katie (a certified nutritionist employed at Anaconda Community Hospital) and Patrick Jr. (a recent appointment to the BSB Law Enforcement Agency).
Teacher, Montana Tech Highlands College
Linda was born and raised in Butte, MT. She attended Montana Tech and graduated from UMWestern with a degree in Broadfield Business Education. Linda worked for First National Bank in the real estate and commercial loan departments for a period of five years before beginning her teaching career, which has now spanned 30 years. She currently teaches at Montana Tech’s Highlands College and also serves as department head for the business and accounting technology departments. In addition to serving on the Chamber of Commerce Board, Linda is also a trustee for our local school district.
Linda is married to Glen Granger and she has two teenage children, Peter and Kaydee. Peter will attend Montana Tech this fall and Kaydee will be a senior at Butte High School.
Linda enjoys running and has completed three marathons.
General Manager, Super 8
Mark is a Butte native, with a degree in Business Management from the University of Montana. Mark has been working in the hospitality industry now for 18 years, with 10 of those here locally. Along with his managerial duties, Mark has served on the Lodging Association, CVB, and Chamber Board of Directors. For relaxation, he enjoys summers on the river fishing, and Grizzlies games in the fall.
Town Pump Hotel Group
Desiree Shogren is a Butte native and graduated from the University of Montana-Western with a passion for the hospitality industry. She has been employed within the Town Pump Hotel Group for over 15 years, serving in a multitude of capacities and currently manages the Comfort Inn of Butte. Desiree lives in Butte with her husband, Nate, and son, Mason. Other Organizations: Butte-Silver Bow Chamber of Commerce Board Vice President, Advantage Butte Chairperson, Silver Bow Hospitality Association Chairperson, former Silver Bow Kiwanis Board Member, Southwest Montana Board Member.
United Blood Services
Becky has worked for United Blood Services since 2003, where their mission is to save and sustain lives through blood donation and it is very rewarding.
Becky is delighted to have the privilege to work with such dedicated and committed individuals on the Chamber Board of Directors. She enjoys working to help make our community a better place . Her husband Jim and her have two lovely daughters.
Assistant Professor in the Business and Information Technology Department at Montana Tech
Todd is currently teaching Economics and Accounting at Montana Tech. He is a Butte native and has 21 years of experience in Industry. He was most recently an Account Manager for PPL Energy Plus through June 2013. He started his career as an Accountant in 1992 for the Montana Power Company in Colstrip, he then worked for MPC in Butte as a Financial Analyst for its electricity generation segment, he then moved to PPL in the same capacity after MPC sold the generation assets to PPL. Todd graduated from the U of M with a bachelor’s degree in Business in 1992 and an MBA in 2007. Todd is a CPA, a Governor appointed Montana Ambassador, a graduate of both Leadership Butte and Leadership Montana and is an active volunteer in Butte having served as Board President of United Way and the Chamber of Commerce, and currently is serving as Chairman of Butte’s Tax Increment Financing Industrial District Board of Directors. His free time is spent enjoying everything Montana has to offer with his wife Shannon of 23 years, his 19 year old son Tanner, and 14 year old daughter Taylor.
Marketing Director for the Butte Local Development Corporation (BLDC)
Andy has a B.S. and M.S. in Geology and has worked in economic/business development for over 15 years. Andy works closely with Butte-Silver Bow local government, and other economic and community development organizations to improve the economic vitality of the community. Andy has lived in Butte for 25-years and married to Stephanie Black, a devoted elementary school teacher with the Butte Central Catholic Schools. They are rising 2 teenage children, Savannah and Nick, which is a more than a full-time job.
